Pink Ribbon Pakistan

Success story

Omer-sb

Every 24 hours, 109 women lose their lives to breast cancer in Pakistan. With over 40,000 deaths annually and 90,000 new cases emerging each year, the need for action is greater than ever. However, timely diagnosis and proper treatment can increase survival chances by up to 90%.

From year-round nationwide awareness campaigns to impactful collaborations with governments and private organizations, and even judicial advocacy through the Supreme Court, Pink Ribbon has successfully transformed breast cancer from a taboo subject into a National Health Agenda.

About Us

Pink Ribbon Pakistan is the country’s only dedicated breast cancer organization, working nationwide since 2004. As a non-funded and self-sustained initiative, we strive to reduce breast cancer mortality by raising awareness, promoting early detection, and increasing access to treatment.

With the successful establishment of Pakistan’s first dedicated Breast Cancer Hospital, we have begun providing life-saving services, including free screenings, diagnostic tests, and treatment for deserving patients. Our holistic approach covers strategic interventions, public awareness, and patient support, ensuring that every woman has access to the care she needs.

mission

Mission

Our mission is to prevent and cure breast cancer by creating widespread awareness through community engagement on prevention, early detection, and increased access to treatment. We are committed to ensuring that every woman in Pakistan has the knowledge and resources to fight breast cancer effectively.

Vision

We envision a future where no woman in Pakistan loses her life to breast cancer due to lack of awareness or treatment. With the successful completion of Pakistan’s first dedicated Breast Cancer Hospital in Lahore, we have set a new benchmark for breast cancer care in the country.

Our goal is to expand this initiative by establishing more specialized breast cancer hospitals, ensuring that every patient has access to world-class diagnosis, treatment, and care. Together, we are shaping a cancer-free future for Pakistan.

At the outset in 2004, talking about Breast Cancer was not easy in the society where this fatal disease was largely associated with female sexuality, but Pink Ribbon campaigned so effectively that not only the taboo was broken and Breast Cancer was included in the narrative of mainstream media but also the government acknowledged the cause and made Breast Cancer a priority in national health agenda.
This impressive campaign of spreading Breast Cancer awareness and building alliances with the public and corporate sector organization led Pink Ribbon to win IPRA Frontline Golden World Award. Pink Ribbon continued its struggle over the years, achieving one milestone after another. Gradually, we moved from campaigning and advocacy to service delivery and launched National Breast Cancer Screen Program through Mobile Mammogram Units.
Realizing the utmost need of quality healthcare facilities for Breast Cancer, Pink Ribbon laid the foundation of Pakistan’s first dedicated Breast Cancer Hospital. The hospital building consists of two blocks, block A is complete, whereas, construction work on block B is in progress. The hospital is providing free-of-cost clinical examinations to patients.
